Nepal public holidays 2083 (2026/27): full list by month

Last checked: 27 October 2026

The Ministry of Home Affairs published the 2083 BS public holiday list on 2082/11/18 (2 March 2026). It runs from Baisakh 1 to the end of Chaitra 2083 (14 April 2026 to 13 April 2027): 31 holidays with fixed dates, plus 6 whose dates depend on the moon or a later notice. Saturday is the weekly holiday and isn't listed.

Who gets each holiday?

The list is for government offices and public bodies. Holidays marked "Everyone" apply to all of them. Some apply only to a group (for example women employees) or a region (for example the Kathmandu Valley), shown in the last column. Private employers, banks and schools follow their own rules, so check with them.

Which holidays have no date yet?

These six get their date later, because they depend on the moon or on the festival itself. Check the Ministry of Home Affairs once they're announced.

  • Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha
  • Saruwa Pawani: Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Siraha and Saptari districts
  • Bhoto Jatra: Kathmandu Valley
  • Muhammad Jayanti: Muslims
  • Guru Nanak Jayanti: Sikhs

Can provinces add holidays?

Yes. A provincial government can declare up to 6 more holidays for regional customs, and these apply to federal offices in that province. Check your province's notice.

Plan bills around holidays

Offices and some services close on public holidays, and Dashain and Tihar close them for days at a time. A due date that lands in a holiday week is easy to miss, so it helps to pay a few days early. Nabikaran is a free Android app that reminds you before bills, EMIs and renewals are due, in both BS and AD.
