This is an estimate of gross interest. Banks may compound differently and tax (TDS) is deducted from FD interest, so the amount you receive will be lower. Confirm the final figure with your bank.

How FD interest is calculated

A fixed deposit (मुद्दती निक्षेप) pays interest on a lump sum left with the bank for a set term. The longer the term and the more often interest compounds, the more it grows.

This tool uses compound interest: A = P × (1 + r/n)^(n×t), where P is the deposit, r the yearly rate as a decimal, n how many times a year it compounds, and t the term in years. Many Nepali banks compound quarterly.

Change the amount, rate, term and compounding above — the maturity amount and total interest update instantly.

Why your bank's figure may differ: tax is deducted at source from FD interest, banks round differently, and premature withdrawal usually earns a lower rate. Treat this as a gross estimate and confirm with your bank.

Frequently asked questions

Is tax deducted from FD interest?

+

Yes. In Nepal, tax (TDS) is withheld from fixed-deposit interest, so your net receipt is a little less than the gross interest shown here. Ask your bank for the after-tax figure.

How often do banks compound FD interest?

+

It varies by bank and scheme; quarterly is common. Pick the matching option above for a closer estimate.

What rate should I enter?

+

Use the rate your bank quotes for the term you want. Rates change often, so this tool doesn't assume one.

Is my data saved?

+

No. The calculation runs entirely in your browser; nothing is sent or stored.

FD maturing soon?

Nabikaran can remind you before your FD matures or renews, so you decide in time instead of letting it roll over by default. Free, on Android.
