This is an estimate. Banks round differently and may add a service charge, loan insurance or a different first-payment date, so your actual EMI can vary slightly. Always confirm the figure with your bank.
What is EMI, and how it's calculated
EMI (Equated Monthly Installment) is the fixed amount you pay your bank every month until a loan is cleared. Each payment covers part of the interest and part of the loan itself, so the balance falls a little each month.
The standard formula is EMI = P × r × (1 + r)ⁿ / ((1 + r)ⁿ − 1), where P is the loan amount, r is the monthly interest rate (the yearly rate ÷ 12 ÷ 100), and n is the number of months. When the rate is zero, the EMI is simply the loan amount ÷ number of months.
Change the numbers above to match your loan — the EMI, total payable and total interest update instantly. Most Nepali bank loans quote a yearly rate on a reducing balance, which is what this tool uses.
Why your bank's figure may differ: banks round to the rupee, some add a one-time service charge or loan insurance, and your first installment may cover a few extra or fewer days depending on the disbursement date. Treat this as a close estimate, not the exact bill.
Frequently asked questions
Is the EMI the same every month?
+
Yes. On a standard reducing-balance loan the EMI stays fixed; only the split between interest and principal changes over time. If your bank's rate changes during the loan, the EMI or the term is adjusted.
Does this include service charges or insurance?
+
No. It calculates the pure loan EMI from the amount, rate and term. Banks may add a one-time service charge or loan insurance separately, so ask your bank for the all-in figure.
What interest rate should I enter?
+
Use the yearly rate your bank quotes for the loan. This tool treats it as a reducing-balance rate, which is how most Nepali bank loans work.
Is my data saved anywhere?
+
No. The calculation runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent or stored.
